2008 |
In
2008 The Blamire Trustees presented a medal to Hazel
Relph of Borrowdale for her work in support
of hill farming and in particular the promotion
of Herdwick lamb.
The Trustees were honoured when
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales agreed
to present the medal during his visit to the area
on the 31st March.

The
Relph family occupy Yew Tree Farm at Rosthwaite
in the beautiful Borrowdale valley maintaining
a flock of Herdwick sheep together with the landscape
so much admired by all who visit the lakes.
The
Chairman of the Blamire Trust, Mr Michael Cowen
said “Joe and Hazel are typical of the hardworking
farmers in our Lake District and have shown how
rewarding hill farming can be. Their activities
are a credit to them which include the superb
facilities for visitors and their highly successful
marketing of Herdwick lamb.
Our
Trust is honoured that His Royal Highness The
Prince of Wales has agreed to present this medal
during his visit”
